This is the where we need to get to. Actually there are two places we should go;
Everest Base Camp
Though this has totemic value, it is neither the highest point of the trek nor the place with the best view of Everest – in fact you can’t even see the summit. But still, to go there is special. Here it is in spring 2009.
Less known if you haven’t looked into the EBC trek, it is actually where more people go. It is slightly higher (5600m vs 5350m), slightly closer to the nearest village, slightly less of a 3 hour trudge over glacial morraine, but more to the point it is a better view – probably the best view you can get without ropes.
The journey is the important thing, but I really hope we manage to get to the destination.
